FLASH is a 75 mph street-legal electric motorcycle — the flagship of the HMP Bikes lineup, built for riders who want real motorcycle performance without a $15,000 price tag. It is DOT-approved, plates and insures as a motorcycle, and lane splitting is legal in California.
A 15,000 W peak hub motor delivers highway-capable speed, while removable 74V lithium packs give you up to 106 miles of range in the dual-battery configuration. A 2 kW onboard charger is standard, pushing up to 25 A: a single 45 Ah pack goes from 20% to 80% in about an hour, the dual 90 Ah setup in about two, and a full charge of both packs takes roughly 3.5 hours. Packs lift out, so you can charge indoors instead of depending on where you park.
Two-up seating, a 397 lb load capacity, ABS, traction control and full suspension make FLASH as practical for daily commuting and delivery work as it is quick — with none of the gas, noise, or maintenance.
FLASH arrives 90% assembled. Final setup is simple: fit the handlebar and the front panel, and you're ready to ride.

Is this product street-legal in the United States?

What kind of license is required to register the FLASH? Motorcycle or moped?
FLASH is a motorcycle, not a moped or scooter. It registers as a motorcycle, and you need a motorcycle license to ride it on public roads — in California, an M1. FLASH is DOT-approved and ships with the MCO and complete registration documentation. Requirements vary by state, so contact us and we'll help you confirm what applies where you live.
Is this product waterproof?
The Flash is rated IPX6 for waterproofing, making it suitable for outdoor use, even in heavy rain. However, we recommend wiping off water droplets after riding in the rain and parking it under a roof to maximize its lifespan.
Does the FLASH come assembled?
FLASH arrives 90% assembled. You'll need to fit the handlebar and the front panel — that's it. Everything else, including the drivetrain and electronics, is done at our facility. Picking up in Davis or San Francisco? We'll do it for you.
